Orang National Park is known for its population of rhinos and tigers. It is sometimes referred to as Mini Kaziranga. The National Park has now been renamed and is officially called the Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park. The forest was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1985 and later a National Park in 1999. The park is situated on the north bank of the Brahmaputra in the Darrang & Sonitpur districts of Assam with an area of 78.80 sq. km.

The Park is situated at a distance of 32 km from Tezpur. Guwahati, the capital of Assam is also 3 hour drive away. The nearest airport is Salonibari airport in Tezpur. The nearest railhead is at Rangapara.

The Orang National park is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The tiger population is estimated to be quite large here. The other major animal, the Great Indian Horned Rhino (Rhinoceros unicornis) is also quite substantial in number. The actual population had come down due to poaching in the past, in recent times there has again been an increase in the Rhino numbers.
