Safari

Periyar National park safaris are, without a doubt, the finest method to view the area’s attractions and spot wildlife such as elephants and wild boars. 

  • Boat cruise at the Periyar Lake During a ride on Periyar Lake, it is common to see lovely, healthy deer near the water. Unfortunately, this facility is not available year-round because excessive rains occasionally suspends these services.

Safari Timings

  • Night jeep safaris are accessible from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., and guests can also go on day safaris. The last admittance for a full-day safari is at 3 p.m.
    Elephant safari –  This safari ride is available from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. The duration of the safari is 30 minutes.
    Boat safari – Available 1.50-hour boat tours are one of the greatest ways to observe the region’s wildlife. At 7.25 a.m., 9.15 a.m., 11.15 a.m., 1.30 p.m., and 4 p.m., 

 

Major Attractions in & Around the Park
There are a number of attractions at Periyar National Park in addition to the wildlife. Pandalom and Cardomom Hills can be explored during a trip within the region. Other things to anticipate here include:

  • Boat cruise at Periyar Lake –   Kerala Tourism Development Corporation offers a two-hour boat ride on this 26-square-kilometer artificial lake for a fee (KTDC).
  • Periyar tiger trail – This walk traverses hills and valleys with knowledgeable guides. This hike is planned in groups with armed guards and communication gear.   
  • Bamboo rafting- During this dawn-to-dusk hiking and rafting excursion, travellers can observe unique species. Each of the three available rafts has the capacity to accommodate five people. They are available by the day or by the half-day .
  • Tribal dance-The reserve is home to six tribal communities, including the Mannans, Paliyans, Mala Pandarams, Malayarayans, Uralis, and Ulladans.
  • Nature walk – Delight in the region’s abundant butterflies and birds, as well as the verdant beauty of evergreen and moist deciduous forests.
