Tea, Plantation and Spices of India Tour

Spice, Tea and Plantation tour -I (12 nights / 13 Days)              Spice, Tea and Plantation tour -II (12 nights / 13 Days)

 

Day 01 Cochin

Arrival Cochin. Transfer to hotel. Evening take a sunset cruise or watch Kathakali program. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02 Munnar

After breakfast proceed for a sightseeing trip in Cochin, which includes St. Francis Church, Mattancherry Palace, Jewish Synagogue, Chinese Fishing Nets etc. After lunch proceed to Munnar. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 03 Munnar

After breakfast, depart for a tea plantation visit in Pothamedu. Pothamedu offers an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar. The rolling hills, the cool mountain and the breathtaking scenery here is ideal for trekking and long mountain walks. After lunch, take a walk through the tea plantations spread on a wide area. Evening back to the hotel.

Day 04 Thekkady

Proceed for a sightseeing trip in Munnar which includes Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Dam, Anaimudi etc. After lunch, proceed to Thekkady. Overnight stay at a jungle resort in Periyar.

Day 05 Thekkady

Proceed for a spice plantation tour. Wear closed shoes - it feels like a jungle walk. Spices growing here include vanilla, black pepper, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg and mace, surrounded by coconut palms, bananas and jackfruit. Back to the resort for overnight stay.

Day 06 Thekkady

Take a boating at Periyar Lake to see the wildlife sanctuary in the morning. Afternoon proceed to Munnar. Munnar consists of vast sloping areas of tea, most of which mostly are owned by Tata Tea. Coffee and cardamom plantations give it a simplistic and smooth appearance. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 07 Houseboat (Alleppey – Kumarakom)

After breakfast, proceed to Alleppey to board the houseboat. Take a cruise in the Vembanad Lake. You can watch small spice plantations in certain houses. Plantation includes Pepper, Red Chillies, ginger etc. Overnight stay in the house boat.

Day 08 Departure

Depart for your onward destination.

 

Suggested Itinerary -II

Day 01 Kozhikode

Arrival Kozhikode. Transfer to a resort. Kozhikode, capital of the exotic Malabar is one of the most ancient trading ports in India. Traders from around the world came here in search of timber, ivory, pepper, ginger, cinnamon and other exotic spices and herbs. Day free for independent activities. Overnight stay at the resort.

Day 02 Kozhikode

Unexplored, unspoiled, the backwaters of Kozhikode hold great promises of enchanting holiday options. Boat cruise on the River Chaliyar. Passing through Kadalundi, with its beautiful bird sanctuary is a charming site . Overnight stay at the resort.

Day 03 Wayanad

Morning drive to Vythiri. Vythiri is located in the Wayanad District in North Kerala, India. Waynad is rich in coffee and spice plantations. Wayanad is steeped in history and traditions which historians claim date as far back as 10 centuries before Christ. They refer to the Edakkal Caves as evidence where ancient carvings have been traced to a highly civilized people from the pre-historic stone ages. Wayanad is also home to proud indigenous tribesmen. Numerous tribal communities co-exist with a well-settled planter population. Arrive and checkin at the resort. Evening tea plantation visit. Overnight stay at resort.

Day 04 Wayanad - Stream Trekking

Morning after breakfast go on eco stream trekking till lunch. Return back to the hotel and afternoon free for independent activities. Overnight stay at resort.

Day 05 Coorg

Morning proceed to Coorg, check in to the resort which is surrounded by a three hundred-acre coffee plantation and bordered by mountain forests and the Cauvery River, the grounds to this hotel have the feel of an English country garden. Freshen up and proceed for activities which include guided walks in the hills, fishing in the streams and mountain biking through the forests. Day free for independent explorations. Overnight stay at resort.

Day 06 Coorg - Forest Trek

Morning after breakfast leave for a guided forest trek. Return back to the Resort for Lunch. Afternoon free time for some more local sightseeing or for rest and relaxation at the resort. Overnight stay at Resort.

Day 07 Coorg - Spice Tour

Morning after breakfast leave for a guided tour of the nearby spice plantation. Return back to the Resort for Lunch. Evening free time for personal activities. Overnight stay at resort.

Day 08 Mysore

Morning check out from the resort and drive to Mysore. Afternoon visit Brindhavan Gardens and other sightseeing areas. Overnight stay at Mysore.

Day 09 Departure - Bangalore

Drive to Bangalore to catch train/flight for your return journey.
